Hex ↔ ASCII Converter
Decode hexadecimal bytes into characters, or turn ASCII text into hexadecimal.

Spacing applies to converted hex. Entered hex stays as pasted; its Copy preserves that spelling.
Inspect invisible bytes here. Edit, then Apply escapes to interpret \n, \r, \t, \xNN or \\. Text above always treats backslashes literally.
Hex accepts continuous bytes, spaces, commas, colons, hyphens, 0xHH and \xHH. ASCII is 00–7F.
/usage
Hexadecimal ASCII to text, and back
Paste hex such as 48 65 6C 6C 6F to read Hello. Continuous 48656C6C6F, prefixed 0x48 0x65 and escaped \x48\x65 bytes are also accepted. Edit Text to convert back to hex. Bookmark text entry to start there.
Copy either representation or download the raw text. More contains hex output spacing and escaped text. Changing output spacing preserves the original hex input.
/controls
Keep control characters explicit
Text always treats backslashes literally: \n means two characters. To enter a line feed, open More, type \n into Escaped text, then choose Apply escapes. This explicit action also supports \r (CR), \t (tab), \x00 (NUL) and other ASCII bytes. Use \\ for a literal backslash in Escaped text. Unknown or incomplete escapes are rejected.
Raw text editors display CR as a line break and normalise typed line endings to LF. Escaped text lets you inspect and apply exact CR or CRLF encoding. Decoded copy and download retain the original bytes; editing elsewhere in Text retains untouched line endings.
/encoding
Standard ASCII is 00–7F
This converter uses standard 7-bit ASCII, including control characters. Bytes from 80 to FF, accented letters and emoji are reported as outside ASCII. “Extended ASCII” refers to several different encodings and is not assumed.
Each conversion is limited to 64 KiB of ASCII. Input and output are processed locally and are not saved in bookmarks. Reference: RFC 20’s ASCII code table.
